For many years we have watched her, thinking that she was truly trying to help people. That she really cared. We thought she believed in God. The one true living God. We thought by the way she talked she was praising Him. After all she calls herself a Christian. All the while the signs were always there, right before our eyes. We just didn't want to see it, because she made us feel good.
We followed her battle with weight, empathizing as we also went through our own struggles with weight or maybe some other addiction. She reached us where it hurt and then we started letting the basic principals of Christianity slide. Oh, It's okay that she has been in a long term relationship, but decided not to marry. That she drinks a little. That she has surrounded herself with great actors, beautiful designers, gifted financial planners, and spiritual teachers with alternate lifestyles and beliefs.
Isaiah 5:20 (New International Version) 20 Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.
We saw her as human not just a celebrity. We saw her the way she wanted us to. She wove her web, pulling us closer. Deceiving us, molding our minds, and little by little introducing little lies that we would eventually begin to think was okay. After all she has a big heart and cares so much, right?
1 Timothy 4:1 (New International Version) 1 The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.
She has chosen sides. You see she has chosen herself as her god. She has denied the One who suffered for her sins and died for her. She is directing people down the wide path, turning people away from faith and belief in the One True Living God.
Matthew 7:13-14 (New International Version) 13 Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.
14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
Ephesians 5:15-16 (New International Version) 15 Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.
